Tamper-Evident Seal

The physical Smart Decal is engineered to destroy itself on removal. Any attempt to detach and reapply the seal renders it visibly compromised — creating an immediate, undeniable record of interference. The seal cannot be transferred from one work to another.

Digital Provenance Registry

Each Smart Decal is linked to a permanent entry in the Open Ikon Provenance Registry. The registry records the artist, the work, the date of authentication, and every subsequent verified transfer of ownership. The record is immutable and publicly verifiable.

Collectors, curators, and institutions can verify authenticity instantly using any smartphone. A single tap or scan returns the full provenance record — artist identity, work details, exhibition history, and chain of ownership — in real time.

Apply the Smart Decal to your completed work. The seal activates on application and immediately creates a timestamped provenance entry.

When a work changes hands, both parties verify the transfer through the Registry. The chain of ownership updates automatically and permanently.

Any holder of the work can verify its full provenance history at any time, from anywhere, using any smartphone. No app required.
